Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Underwriter to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will assess and manage complex bridging loan applications from brokers, intermediaries, and direct applicants. You’ll play a key part in ensuring that all applications align with our lending policy and risk appetite, while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and underwrite bridging loan applications in line with lending policy.
  • Manage a personal pipeline of cases from application through to completion.
  • Evaluate risk-related issues and resolve them effectively.
  • Review full case documentation, including credit reports and KYC, ensuring AML compliance.
  • Analyse valuation reports and assess property suitability and LTV.
  • Approve or decline applications, escalating to Compliance or Senior Leadership when needed.
  • Produce high-quality loan synopses with clear rationale.
  • Maintain professional communication with all stakeholders throughout the loan process.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar underwriting role or within the short-term lending industry.
  • GCSE (or equivalent) grade B or above in Maths and English Language.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and ability to work independently or collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Comfortable with manual calculations and CRM platform tools.
  • Demonstrated interest in bridging finance and market trends.
